PEMBROKE, N.C. − JaToya Kemp scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds coming off the bench to help lead UNC Pembroke to a 73-48 win over Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference East Division women’s basketball game Saturday afternoon at the English E. Jones Center.
UNCP ended its regular season with a 14-13 overall record and an 8-10 mark in the Peach Belt. The Lady Braves will be the No. 4 seed in the East and will travel to No. 1 seed Lander for a quarterfinal game on Mar. 2 at 7 p.m. Flagler wrapped up its season with a 8-19 overall mark and 3-15 conference record, its first in the Peach Belt.
Talena Faison scored 10-of-her-16 points in the first half and made 6-of-7 from the field for the game. Illya Hunt and DeDe Cotton each dished out six assists.
UNCP out-scored Flagler 18-4 in transition points and out-rebounded the Saints 50-35. The Lady Braves used a 29-13 run to close out the first half and take a 35-23 lead.
Adrienne Donelson (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson HS) scored a team-high 12 points and grabbed six rebounds to go along with three blocked shots for the Saints.
Charlsea Owen (St. Augustine, Fla./Pedro Menendez HS) tallied 10 points.
Jalisa Foster (St. Petersburg, Fla./Pinellas Park HS) grabbed a team-high eight rebounds in her final game in a Flagler uniform.
Rachel Brown (Clearwater, Fla./Clearwater HS) blocked four shots.
