ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Zach Bove (Winter Haven, Fla./Central Florida CC) hit a two-run double in the seventh inning to rally Flagler College past the University of Alabama-Huntsville 8-7 in a non-conference baseball game Sunday afternoon at Flagler Stadium.

Flagler improved to 2-2 overall while Alabama-Huntsville fell to 2-2.

The Saints went into the seventh inning trailing 7-6, but Cale Owen (Clearwater, Fla./home schooled) led off the frame with a base hit, then stole second and took third on Will Percy’s (Colorado Springs, Colo./St. Mary’s HS) single. Percy moved to second on a groundout, but Owen could not advance. That set up Bove, who hit a two-run home run in a six-run third for Flagler. He finished the day 2-for-4 with a run scored and four runs batted in.

Gary Lohmann (Ormond Beach, Fla./Seabreeze HS) (1-1) continued throwing well in relief after coming in at the start of the fifth inning. He struck out the last batter of the game with the tying run just 90 feet away. Lohmann only allowed one hit in five scoreless innings of relief.

Charlie Stewart (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Lincoln Park Academy) went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in the third. Travis Coverston (Jacksonville, Fla./Stanton College Prep) had a two-run double in the same inning.

Corey Whittle led the Chargers with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate with a double, two runs score and another driven in. Bradley Ray went 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and three driven in.

Cody Barett (0-1) took the loss in relief for UAH. He tossed three and one-third innings and allowed five hits and two runs.

Flagler hosts Nova Southeastern University in a three-game weekend series, starting with Friday (Feb. 12) night’s game at 7 p.m. at Flagler Stadium.
