UNCP downs Flagler, 92-83

D.J. Ferguson scored a season-high 22 points, dished out nine assists and grabbed seven boards in Flagler's 92-83 loss to UNCP Saturday afternoon.
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Chris Hargrove scored 16-of-his-team-high-20 points in the second half to help lead UNC Pembroke to a 92-83 win over Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference East Division men’s basketball game Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gym.

UNCP won its second consecutive game and raised its record to 8-17 overall and 4-9 in the Peach Belt. Flagler lost its seventh in a row and fell to 7-13 overall and 2-9 in the conference play.

Brandon Thomas recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and also blocked three shots while Shahmel Brackett tallied 15 points and dished out five assists. Marcus Heath chipped in with 13 points and dished out nine assists for the Braves.

UNCP shot 61.8% (21-34) in the second half and tallied 60 points.

The Braves used a 26-12 run over 6:42 of the second half to pull away with its largest lead (79-64) with 3:30 left in the game. After Flagler had cut the UNC Pembroke lead to one (53-52), K.J. Cooper sank a trey with a three-pointer which ignited a 10-0 run.

D.J. Ferguson (Orlando, Fla./Bishop Moore HS) scored a season-high 22 points, dished out nine assists and grabbed seven rebounds for Flagler. John Pietkiewicz (Winter Park, Fla./New Hampton (N.H.) Prep) tallied 12 points while Cody Shuffler (Valdese, N.C./East Burke HS) tacked on 11 points.
