ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – No. 9 (ITA Division II) Concordia College of Bronxville, N.Y., defeated No. 16 Flagler College 8-1 in a non-conference men’s tennis match Wednesday afternoon at the Flagler Tennis Center.
Concordia snapped a two-match losing streak and improved to 3-2 while Flagler lost its second consecutive match to fall to 7-2.
David Cotrone (Bradenton, Fla./Bradenton Christian) posted Flagler’s lone victory as the No. 6-ranked singles player defeated the No. 2-ranked player in Division II, Alex Grubin, 2-6, 7-5 and 10-8. He is now 2-0 against nationally ranked singles opponents.
The Clippers swept the remaining singles flights in straight sets.
The top-ranked doubles team in the country, Grubin and Andrey Boldarev defeated Cotrone and
Gino Ramirez (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Dr. Michael Krop HS) 8-5 at No. 1. Andres Lindell and Tamas Dobrotka downed
Harry Snoxell (Bradenton, Fla./Bradenton Prep) and
Tim Hansson, 8-6, while Raphael Namias and Felix Missal defeated
Stephen Coulis (Bradenton, Fla./Army) and
Mason Addison (Longwood, Fla./Circle Christian School) 8-3.
Flagler hosts No. 12 Northwood University of Michigan on Saturday (Mar. 6) at 12:30 p.m.
