ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – No. 11 (ITA Division II) Georgia College & State University rallied from an early 2-1 deficit to downs No. 16 Flagler College 6-3 in a Peach Belt Conference men’s tennis match Sunday afternoon at the Flagler Tennis Center.
GCSU improved to 6-4 overall and 3-2 in the Peach Belt while Flagler fell to 7-4 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
The Saints started the day by winning tow-of-the-three doubles matches.
David Cotrone (Bradenton, Fla./Bradenton Christian) and
Gino Ramirez (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Dr. Michael Krop HS) teamed to beat 16th-ranked Joao Casagrande and Jerome Leborgne 8-5 at No. 1.
Harry Snoxell (Bradenton, Fla./Bradenton Prep) and Tim Hansson (Norrkoping, Sweden/Mercyhurst College) downed Max Beliankou and Giovane Nucci 8-3 at No. 2.
Cotrone, ranked No. 6 nationally, was forced to a three-set match for just the second time this year and defeated Leborgne 6-3, 2-6 and 6-4, at No. 1 singles. The Bobcats won the rest of the singles flight matches.
Flagler takes on Grand Valley State University on Tuesday in Orlando at 4 p.m.
