INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. − Flagler College senior
Kaitlyn Edwards (Winter Springs, Fla./Winter Springs HS) qualified as an individual for the 54-hole NCAA Division II South Region Women’s Golf Tournament which will be held May 2-4 at the Country Club of Salisbury at Salisbury, N.C.
Edwards, ranked No. 35 by Golfstat, earned one of the four individual slots. She is joined by Emily Gibson of the University of Montevallo, Kelsey Babos of Catawba College and Ashley Denton of Wingate University.
The nine teams in the field are: 1) Nova Southeastern University; 2) Rollins College; 3) Florida Southern College; 4) Belmont Abbey College; 5) Barry University; 6) Saint Leo University; 7) Newberry College; 8) Carson-Newman College; and, 9) Lynn University.
This season, Edwards finished in the top five twice, the top 10 four times and in the top 20 six times. Her per round average was 79.5 and her season-best tally, for a round, of 75 came at the Flagler Fall Slam and at the Lady Moc Classic. She also earned first-team All-Peach Belt honors and was selected as the conference’s Player of the Week twice.
The top three teams and the top three individual players not associated with a team from each of the four super regionals will advance on to the NCAA Division II National Championships May 12-15 at the Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.
