Joel Dahlenburg named Academic All-Peach Belt

Joel Dahlenburg was namerd to the Peach Belt Conference's All-Academic Team this afternoon.
AUGUSTA, Ga. − Sophomore Joel Dahlenburg (St. Augustine, Fla./Bartram Trail HS) of Flagler College was named to the Peach Belt Conference’s All-Academic Team in a release this afternoon by conference officials.

To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team’s events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee and select the teams.

Dahlenburg has a 3.47 grade point average in business administration and was one of Head Coach Santiago Cavanagh’s most consistent players this season. In 26 rounds of golf this season, Dahlenburg shot an average of 74.3 strokes per round. He also had three top five, four top 10 and six top 20 finishes this year. Dahlenburg earned medalist honors at the Outback Steakhouse Intercollegiate with a 3-under par 141 Feb. 1-2. Dahlenburg also was selected to the All-Peach Belt Conference second-team last month.

Flagler concluded its 2009-10 campaign with a 16th place finish at the South/Southeast Regional earlier in the week at Wilson, N.C.

HARROGATE, Tenn. – Last Saturday (Oct. 15), Flagler College Director of Golf Santiago Cavanagh was honored by his alma mater, Lincoln Memorial University, by welcoming him in its Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2011 held at Tex Turner Arena. Cavanagh and five other Lincoln Memorial alums were so honored as par of its Homecoming Weekend festivities.
